The Perfect Dance – Serves 7 Billion (A Poem Inspired by Benjamin Zephaniah)

A Poem Inspired by Benjamin Zephaniah - blog title

Hello my lovely Truuties,

Today I have something a little different for you – a poem! I really enjoyed writing this at school and although it’s not a super-high level of English or anything like that, I love it and I hope you will too! 🙂

The Perfect Dance – Serves 7 Billion (Inspired by Benjamin Zephaniah’s poem, ‘The British (serves 60 million)’):

Prepare some moves, music and art,

then immerse them in creativity and personality.

Stir in the necessities –

passion with expression

and a sprinkle of reflection.

Don’t forget the musicality and some accuracy,

cook it in emotion and devotion,

excitement and enjoyment.

Always remember the story-line,

and a little mime.

Put in a dollop of movement and self-improvement,

and some amusement? (optional)

Blend in the communication and association,

but don’t leave out your medium and most importantly,

a feeling of freedom.

I have some exciting news – Truth and Beauty blog now has Instagram! Yayyyy! @truuty_blog

I would love to hear from you in the comments!

Have you written anything like this before? Have you read Benjamin Zephaniah’s poem, ‘The British (serves 60 million)’?

My Morning Workout Routine

Hello my lovely Truuties,

One of my New Year’s Resolutions for 2017 is to have a better morning routine. So, I thought I’d write three posts to do with it: one about my morning devotional/Bible study, one about my morning skincare and one about my morning workout routine (which is today’s post)! I might have more ideas later and then I’ll add more blog posts to this sort of series called ‘My Morning’. I hope you’ll enjoy reading them! 🙂

As I wrote in my Q&A post, my favourite way to exercise is by dancing! There are a lot of health benefits which you can read about, if you like, by clicking here to see a page on a health website called ‘Dance – health benefits’.

Recently I’ve started using the dance workout videos on the Icon UK YouTube channel and they are so fun to do! (This is NOT sponsored by Icon.)

I always begin with a quick warm up which is only one minute and thirty-two seconds and it warms me up really well! It includes head rolls, head tilts, shoulder rolls, stretches (arms, ribs, legs) and cardio. You can watch the video just below:

There are lots of great dance workouts on Icon UK’s channel which are very quick and effective if you don’t have time to do a longer one. They are really enjoyable so I definitely recommend them! I’ve embedded the videos in this post (I only do one of these a day though):

Afterwards, it is really important to cool down to prevent aching the next day!

Doing a bit of exercise every morning wakes me up, makes me feel more excited for the day, helps me enjoy breakfast even more and in the long-term, will keep me healthy!

Lots of love,

Truuty xx

I would love to hear from you in the comments!

Do you have a favourite way to exercise? If you do, what is it? Have you written a post to do with your morning routine on your blog? If you have, please link it in a comment!

The Sunshine Blogger Award + My Ballet Exam Results!

Hello, Truuties!

I’m so sorry for not posting anything in three weeks! I’ve been quite busy. I’ll try to keep on blogging every week.

I was nominated by the lovely Hope from @HighHopes to do the Sunshine Blogger Award! Thank you so much, Hope! You can see her post for this award if you click here.

1) Thank the person who nominated you 🙂

2) Answer the 11 questions set by the person who nominated you

3) Nominate 11 bloggers to receive the award

4) Include 11 new questions for your nominees to answer

These are the questions from Hope and my answers:

What can you see out of your window and what is the weather like right now?

Right now, out of my window, I can see my front garden (our car, the fence, bay trees, lavender bushes, a big magnolia tree and lots of other things) and quite a lot cars going past as well as a few people. I can also see my neighbour’s front garden, a pub, a church, lots of tall trees etc. The weather is quite cloudy and now it has just started raining! UK weather is very unpredictable!

How old are you (and when is your birthday)?

I would prefer not to share my age and birthday online just yet but I think I will in the future. Sorry! What I will say is that I am a ‘tween’. 😉

What is your favourite thing to blog about?

I have lots of things that I love to blog about, I’m not sure what my favourite is, haha! I love blogging about life in general, lifestyle, travel, culture and countries, Japan, diet and nutrition/cooking, baking, dance, photography, Christianity and lots more!

Is there a story behind your blog name/why did you choose it?

I would like to share the truth and beauty of life. My cover name, ‘Truuty’ is a mashup of ‘truth’ and ‘beauty’ which is my blog name/title. There is more meaning behind my blog name but I will probably talk about that in a different post in the future.

Can you speak any languages?

Apart from the obvious – English, I can speak Japanese! Even though I am able to have a conversation in Japanese, I am definitely a lot more fluent in English. At the moment, I am trying to work hard to become very fluent in Japanese! (By the way, in case you weren’t aware, I am half-Japanese/half-English.) Hopefully, as soon as possible, I will write my blog posts in both languages (with translations) to encourage Japanese bloggers to visit my little corner of the internet! I would really like to make friends with bloggers all over the world!

What do your family/friends think of you blogging/your blog?

My family and friends think it is a really good way to share my thoughts with others!

Do you play any instruments or if not, what would you like to be able to play?

I don’t play any instruments but if I had time to fit in something extra into my life, I would probably like to learn the piano. A while ago, I started learning some piano because my mum used to play the piano when she was a child and she taught me a little. However, I couldn’t carry on with it because there were other things that I wanted to focus on such as dance and school in general.

Organised or messy?

Even though my room can sometimes get a bit messy, I much prefer being organised and I think all my friends would call me a very organised person! I am still learning about organisation skills, though!

If you could only take three things to a desert island what would you take?

This is such a hard question! I really can’t be definite but for now, I’ll say –

  • Journal + pencil
  • Snacks to keep me going (haha)
  • Swiss Army knife

Favourite and least favourite subject at school?

I like religious studies but I also like art and geography and I quite like English as well. Oh, and I love French and Spanish! I also like PE at the moment because we are doing athletics! Sorry, that was more than one subject haha! I don’t know what my least favourite subject is because I think they are all important. However, if I had to choose one, I think I would say maths.

Best book you ever read?

Classic – ‘Anne of Green Gables’ by L.M Montgomery

Modern – ‘Girl Online’/’Girl Online On Tour’ by Zoe Sugg or ‘Read me Like a Book’ by Liz Kessler

Okay, so I said I would let you all know my ballet exam results. Many of you might not know what I am talking about so I’ll quickly explain –  I took my grade 4 ballet exam at the beginning of March and I mentioned it in my post called The Power of Smiles! I’ll tell you my results now…I got a distinction!! I’m so happy about my results! Thank you, everyone, for your support and your ‘good luck’ comments – it really helped me to dance with all my heart during the exam because sometimes I thought of my blog readers and that reminded me of how many people are supporting me! Thank you so much!

Lots of love,

Truuty xx

I would love to hear from you in the comments!

Can you relate to me from my answers to the questions? Have you ever taken a ballet exam? If you have, what experiences did you have from it?

My Relatable Inspiration

Hello, Truuties!

Is there someone who is so inspiring to you? Is there someone you can relate to a lot? Is there someone who motivates you to work towards your goals and dreams? For today’s post, I would like to write about a lovely dancer called Melodee Morita!

melodee morita website

How can I relate to Melodee Morita?

  • She is half Japanese but grew up in an English-speaking country.
  • She is a dancer.
  • She has a great passion for being healthy (diet, nutrition and exercise).
  • She is passionate about skincare.
  • She loves fashion and beauty.
  • She is bilingual.

All of those bullet points could be describing me, but I was actually describing Melodee Morita. It is so inspiring and motivating when there is someone you can relate to who has achieved very similar things to your own dreams.

What has Melodee Morita achieved that I would like to achieve too?

  • She has grown in confidence by stepping out of her comfort zone.
  • She is very fluent in Japanese although she has never lived there.
  • She is an interpreter.
  • She has helped many people through her YouTube channel. (I would like to help lots of people through my blog.)
  • She seems very organised with her time.
  • She is very healthy and is continuing to learn more and more about health.
  • She is a professional ballet dancer.

These are all goals that I would love to reach! Having found Melodee’s YouTube channel, I am now more encouraged that I really can make my dreams come true!

To find out more about Melodee Morita, please visit her YouTube channel and/or her website. She also has different social media accounts.

A message for all WordPress bloggers…

I would like to make this a new tag – what do you think? Anyone can do it but if you like you can nominate people for it. To do this tag, just write about your personal inspiration to whom you can relate to! Your readers might be inspired too! Please include the tag, #myrelatableinspiration with no spaces or capitals. I hope lots of you will take part in this!

Have a lovely day/night!

Lots of love,

Truuty xx

The Power of Smiles

Hello, Truuties!

I hope you are all well and are having a lovely day (And if you are in the UK, I hope you are having a lovely Mother’s Day!). If you’re not, I hope this post will cheer you up!

I’m so sorry for not sticking to my schedule of posting – I’ve been very busy recently. On Thursday, I had my grade 4 ballet exam! With all the extra ballet exam coaching, and practising at home on top of all my regular dance lessons (and homework for school!!), I haven’t had much time to be blogging. I’ve missed you, Truuties!

This is a rose from my dance teachers to wish good luck for the exam.

Reflecting on my ballet exam and thoughts on the power of smiles:

Something that my ballet teacher said to the class during an exam coaching lesson was this, “What’s the best thing to do when you have to do a dance you don’t enjoy doing, in an exam? Smile.”. This doesn’t just apply in ballet exams, it can apply to so many situations in life. For example, what do you not enjoy doing? It could just be small things like doing some difficult homework or cleaning the house. It can be slightly bigger things too, like giving a presentation at school (if you aren’t very confident) or working with someone you don’t get along with. It could even apply to bigger situations, can you think of any examples? Please leave a comment if you have thoughts on that.

Let’s re-phrase what my ballet teacher said. “Always SMILE when you have to do something you don’t enjoy doing.” Smiles make a very big difference.

The examiner at my ballet exam was smiling all the time, especially when I smiled too. This made me feel more at ease and confident during my exam. The examiner didn’t say anything big to encourage me during the exam but her lovely smile was so powerful that it encouraged me a lot.

Thinking about smiles, one of my new best friends is a ‘smiler’. Before I got to know her very well, I knew she was really kind because of her naturally beautiful smile. Her smile is what made me want to get to know her more and become good friends with her. Like the ballet examiner, her smile was so powerful.

Challenge: Over the coming week, I’m going to concentrate on smiling when I do things that I don’t particularly enjoy but I have to do. I’m also going to try and be really welcoming with my smile and make a ‘sparkling’ difference with my smile. I encourage you all to join me in this challenge and explore the power of smiles.

Lots of love,

Truuty xx

I would love to hear from you in the comments!

Have you experienced the power of smiles? Are you going to join me in the challenge? Any other thoughts on this post?

What Dance Has Given Me

Hello Truuties!

Since I haven’t done a post to do with dance yet, I thought I would write one for this week’s weekly post. I have only written a sentence or two, here and there, about dance, so many of you won’t know that I have a love for dance and am a passionate dancer! Whether you’re a dancer or not, please read this post if you like!

ballet-311004_1280 (1)

What has dance given me?

The opportunity to express myself through movement,

Confidence and the growth of my confidence,

A gift to share with others,

Another hand to hold my future,

Another way of spreading happiness,

The endless list of what it has given me.

There are so many things that dance has given me – much more than I have mentioned. For me, dance isn’t just a hobby or a sport; it’s a way of expressing myself through movement.

That feeling of being on stage, that feeling of being complimented by others.

That feeling of making people smile through passion and emotion.

I find it amazing how what you are passionate about can send smiles to so many faces and the difference it makes in your life.

I’d like to invite you all to join me in this mission to really work towards your dreams and what you are passionate about and to realise how much your passion can give you in your life and other people’s lives. You may not have found your real passion yet but you will one day – just keep on discovering what you can do.

I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me in my dance life, for now I’ll keep on dancing, enjoy where I am at now and explore and receive things dance has given me and will continue to give me!

Lots of love,

Truuty xx

I would love to hear from you in the comments!

Do you like this style of post? Are you a dancer too? What do you think dance (or whatever your passion/gift is) has given you? What other kind of posts would you like me to post on my blog?
